Mark Green for Governor?
| |
With the election less than a month away, it finally happened. Today, we received our first political phone call -- attempting to garner votes for Mark Green for Governor of Wisconsin.
Unfortunately, we were not home, and so the caller left a message. Now, granted, we do have a bit of an eccentric answering machine message -- we sing a little greeting, to the tune of "Greatest American Hero", in an ode to a Seinfeld episode from years past.
It's not the message she intended to leave that we find so hilarious -- it's what happened after the caller THOUGHT that she hung up...
Click the play button and read the transcript of the call below... and hear the phone etiquette of one of Mark Green's finest volunteers.
- Answering Machine Greeting: "Believe it or not, Ben isn't at home. Please leave a message at the beep. Jenelle must be out, or she'd pick up the phone. Where could we be? Believe it or not, we're not home." (beep)
- Ann: "Good afternoon, my name is Ann, and I'm a volunteer for Mark Green's campaign for governor. I have a few questions to ask of you; you were unavailable. So, should you have any questions about Mark Green or would like to volunteer your services, please call 262-898-2059. Thank you."
(click) (beep)
- Ann: "Those people were nuts... had three of their little kids answer the phone. 'Hewwo, wa wa wa wa wa,' saying a cute song that anybody else would think was cute except someone that was serious about what they were doing."
- Man in background: "Yeah... My son's children answer the phone like that."
- Ann: "Not everybody, you know, likes that." (beep) (beep) "The phone isn't a toy." (beep) (rustle) (click)
- Answering Machine: "Thursday, 4:11 p.m." (beep) "End of messages."
