Baby’s First Christmas, Part 1

Even more Eliana photos!

Shown above is the outfit that Eliana wore on Christmas Eve.  We all enjoyed the 3:00 service at Kenosha Bible Church.  Eliana barely made a peep — there were lots of other louder kids in attendance.  :)  She also seemed to like it when Jill, the pastor’s wife, held her for a while.  We also passed her around to a few more friends who we haven’t seen lately.

That evening, we ventured north to Great Grandpa Nick & Great Grandma Iz’s place for family fun.  Eliana got way too many presents, including the first contribution to her college fund.  Thanks again, everyone!  It was great to be able to gather with everyone and share in the joy of Christmas.

Jenelle’s parents arrived from Oregon yesterday, so look for more Christmas news here soon!

Yay for Visitors

In the past four days, we’ve had lots of visits from family and friends.  The latest Eliana photo collection shows off most of them.  It is a joy for us to share our little blessing.

Liz, Randy, and Amanda dropped by on Thursday night.  On Friday, my parents brought dinner over, which was really nice.  I forgot to take pictures of them, but I remembered my camera when Nancy and Jerry came by a little bit later.  Jacob and Kristin, friends of ours from Kenosha Bible Church, dropped by on Saturday with their young children, Gabriel and Anneliese.  Lots of fun with kids of all sizes!  Sunday was also a blast with friends Nick & Sam, who bought and brought us lunch, followed by a visit from Uncle Nick, Aunt Lisa, and cousin Rachel.  While Rachel is only nine years old, she seemed much older when I watched her holding little Eliana.

To each of you who visited, and even those who just called or sent a card, we are truly thankful.

Though she is eating more, our baby girl is still so tiny — we’ll find out exactly how much she weighs tomorrow at our two-week check-up.  Everybody says, “They grow up so fast!”, so I better enjoy this time to the best of my ability.

Ten Days Old

It’s a lovely Friday morning in our neck of the woods.  Eliana is ten days old, and we have more pictures to share!

Jenelle’s mom returned to Oregon on Tuesday, so we’ve been on our own for a few days.  There’s been a few bumps in the road, but things are going great overall!  Besides all the eating and sleeping, our little baby girl is now alert for longer periods during the day, which is a lot of fun.  Last night, she woke up for feedings and fell back asleep almost right away, which is a blessing for Mommy and Daddy, who are feeling bright-eyed and well-rested this morning.

We’ve welcomed a few visitors, and more are planning to stop by this weekend.  If you’d like to meet Eliana, feel free to give us a call!

She’s here! Two weeks early!

Lots of photos of Baby Eliana!

Introducing Eliana Scout Isaacson, born on Tuesday, December 7 at 7:56 a.m., weighing in at six pounds, two ounces, and measuring 18.5 inches long.  We are now home from the hospital.  Hooray!

This was a pretty big surprise for us.  We weren’t expecting her until just before Christmas.  Luckily, we were prepared, and we are overjoyed that she is here and is happy and healthy.

Baby Name!

Well, not the WHOLE name, but here’s a hint.  We bought some letters to paint and put in the nursery.  Jenelle started by painting them all white.  Here’s a snapshot of the work in progress.

My advice to all of you is as follows: If you spend more than a minute thinking about what the name could be, you are already wasting your time.  🙂

Bring On The Baby

This weekend, we’ll be packing our suitcase for the trip to hospital, which will happen sometime between now and the end of the month.  God only knows the exact date and time.

Everything else is pretty much ready to go.  Earlier this week, we verified that our car seat bases are installed correctly in both the Prius and the Corolla.

So, how many of you would like a hint as to our baby girl’s first name?  Feel free to post a comment if you’re interested by clicking on the “Comments” link above!

Happy Thanksgiving Back

Jenelle’s full-of-blackberries blackberry pie was a big hit at Grandma & Grandpa’s house earlier today.

I’m also pleased to report that I have already done the bare minimum as far as Christmas lights are concerned.  I’ve replaced the bulbs on the sides of our garage to a festive red and green.  Ooooh, pretty.

Have a great holiday weekend, everyone!

Baby Bump

Here’s an album where you can watch Jenelle’s tummy grow! We are now less than a month away from our expected delivery date, and our baby girl is finally stretching out and making some room for herself!  I’ll try and add a few more photos to this album between now and the day she is born.

A place for our little one

Nursery Photo Album

It’s less than five weeks until the expected arrival of our baby daughter.  We’ve been working steadily to prepare the nursery.

We painted the walls and the ceilings, and then added some white crown molding.  A big thanks to Dad (Tom) for help with the crown molding.  On the windows, we have cordless shades/blinds.  A big thanks to Dad (Dave) for help with that!

We have all of the necessary furniture (crib, chest of drawers, glider, ottoman), and we’ll be adding a small table and a floor lamp soon.

One truly unique part of the nursery is the bedding.  Jenelle and her mom picked out fabrics while we were in Oregon, and Jenelle’s mom is making just about everything.  Once it’s all done, I’ll try and post some more photos.

Soon and very soon

In approximately five weeks, we’ll be welcoming our baby daughter into the world.  In the next several days, I’m going to try and post a bit more about our preparations.

Until then, I encourage you to visit the running blog to read about our latest adventure in Door County.  I ran fifty miles and raised over $2,000 for Compassion International!  Here’s a direct link to the photo album.  By the end of the year, I may also have a video to share.
