The Best of Everything
Thanks to Jenelle, I had a super-terrific Valentine’s Day. As you can see from the above photo, I got two cards (one from Jenelle, one from Eliana), two bags of popcorn, a Foo Fighters CD/DVD, and a cake.
Let me go into more detail about the cake. It’s a red velvet cake, and Jenelle made it for me. Though I got a bit of help from others, I ate most of the cake myself over a period of three days. Prior to this one, I never had red velvet cake. It might just be Jenelle’s amazing skills, but I think this kind of cake is quite delicious. The taste is somewhere between yellow cake and chocolate cake, both of which I like. The cream cheese frosting is great, too. I’ve had that kind of frosting on carrot cake many times before, but never on an extra-tasty red velvet cake. I also appreciate that Jenelle did not put an entire vial of red food coloring into the cake as the recipe directed, instead using just a little bit. It doesn’t have to be bright red to be yummy.
So, to sum things up, I loved pretty much everything about the red velvet cake, especially the person who made it. Perhaps another cake like this will appear on the kitchen counter when my birthday rolls around. 🙂
Christmas Lights!
When it comes to Christmas decorations, our neighbors across the street always do way more than we do. However, I am happy to report that we actually put up some lights this year. I was going to do it in 2010, but Eliana showed up early, and then it was too darn cold.
Anyway, a big thanks to Jenelle’s dad, Dave, who had the courage and the know-how to set up and climb a big extension ladder multiple times to get those icicle lights up on the roof. Now I’m just waiting for Jenelle’s parents to come back and visit so that we can take them down. 🙂 (Reminder: When taking down the lights, also get the wire that’s hanging from the satellite dish that the previous owners installed.)
An Isaacson Family Christmas 2011
Here’s the Isaacson Family Christmas 2011 photo album!
It’s always great when my brother Andrew and his family come into town for a visit. We all gathered at my parents’ house a few days after Christmas to open gifts, play games, and just enjoy each other’s company. There are now TEN of us, so there’s never a dull moment.
The photo of Andrew and Eliana above is great, but there’s also a funny shot of me playing the Disney version of Hedbanz. I used to be pretty smart with Disney-related trivia, but I since haven’t been following the latest movies/shows, I didn’t fare too well against my nieces (Ella and Lily). Oh well — it’s still fun to play!
A Walter Family Christmas 2011
Here’s the Oregon Christmas 2011 photo album!
With Eliana’s birth in December 2010, there was no way we could travel to Oregon to celebrate Christmas with the Walters. So, we were definitely making the trip in 2011. As always, we had a wonderful time. We enjoyed breakfast with the family on Christmas morning and opened gifts soon afterward. We had plenty of days left over to cruise around town and get plenty of shopping and other fun activities done. We also spent some time with our friends the Boedings (Dave, Amanda, Adelaide, and introducing Thaddeus).
Catching up… December 2011 Photos
December was a crazy month. Between Eliana’s birthday and the numerous Christmas celebrations, we kept the camera clicking for our little one. This photo album has pictures from December that aren’t from her birthday party or the two big Christmas parties. A lot of them are quite cute.
