Euro for your thoughts

I had a productive pre-work morning today. I got up, ran three miles, balanced the checkbook, ate breakfast, packed my lunch, and loaded the dishwasher all before heading to work. Yay me. :)

Jenelle and I used last night for some quality "veg out" time. We watched a lot of the shows that we recorded last week, and we also got a few loads of laundry done.

Paris photos will be coming soon. Until then, I'd like to share this story:

While looking for something nice to bring back from Paris, I thought it would be neat to have a polo / collared shirt that says "Paris" or "France" that I could wear to work. There were a lot of touristy stands that had t-shirts, but nothing that I would consider suitable for SCJ. So, we proceeded to two French department stores on the north side of Paris -- Galleries Lafayette and Au Printemps.

I was thinking that I would find a lot of authentic French merchandise at these stores. However, the departments with shirts for men looked a lot like department stores around here. Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, and other American brands seemed to be the headliners. And the prices were, of course, higher than what I'm used to. A simple polo shirt cost 60 euros, or about 72 dollars. Since I could get the same exact stuff back here in the states, I decided to save my money for other things.

On Sunday, Jenelle and I went to Madison to visit Sarah (Jenelle's college roommate), who was in town for a wedding. On the way home, we went to the Old Navy Outlet in Johnson Creek. I bought three polo shirts on clearance, and Jenelle bought a pair of pants. The total for all four articles of clothing -- $ 22.10.

God bless America.
